Jerome Robbins Celebration

From Broadway to ballet, Jerome Robbins was the most creative and revered choreographer this country has ever produced, and 2008 is the 90th anniversary of his birth. In recognition of his innumerable contributions to American culture. New York City Ballet dedicates our spring season to the celebration of his monumental artistic achievements.

The 2008 spring season includes 33 ballets on ten dedicated programs showcase the lifelong musical influences of Bach, Bernstein, Chopin, and Stravinsky, among others, on Robbins.

Additional season highlights include the return of Peter Martins’ River of Light, a world premiere from Bolshoi Ballet Artistic Director Alexei Ratmansky, two all Balanchine programs, and the most recent ballets from Mauro Bigonzetti and Christopher Wheeldon adding an additional seven programs for a total of seventeen programs in all.
